Bradford Krieger’s recording project, Big Nice, along with fellow artist Pat Reynolds have paired to deliver swift spacey experimental tunes directly to your eardrums. These avant-garde tracks artfully coalesce themselves into the form of 50 cassette tapes and a digital album available via Bandcamp.
The eight song split is short. In fact, the entire tape can be consumed in just under five minutes with two of the shortest tracks clocking in at eleven seconds in length. It’s a refreshing change of pace that leaves listeners satisfied, yet still keeps them guessing on just what else each track has perhaps left to mystery. Having said this, Bradford of Big Nice mentioned that some of the fleeting moments on the track are actually part of longer songs that may be released at some point in the future.
“This collection of songs are supposed to feel like a mixtape; it's a bunch of ideas that I was able to record quickly between sessions with other musicians, sometimes I would get inspired by an instrument or mic setup that I was using with an artist, and I'd keep everything set up and then record my own music after they left,” Bradford mentions. Bradford also owns and operates Big Nice Studio, a former textile manufacturing mill from the 1840’s turned full service digital and analog recording studio.
The Big Nice and Pat Reynolds split also benefits a great organization. The two artists have decided to donate proceeds to the ACLU, an organization that works to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.
When asked about the decision to donate the proceeds Bradford elaborates, "The option to donate all proceeds to the ACLU was easy for me. I don't want to speak on behalf of Pat, though I'm sure he feels similarly; as artists in this era, I feel that it's our duty to not only create work and share it with people, but to also take what we can and give it to organizations that help fight for people most affected by this new administration.”
